A gift in your Will, sometimes called a bequest, costs nothing during your lifetime, yet it can change lives for generations. It ensures that the next girl who arrives at our gate can go to school, the next mother facing a difficult birth is met with safe, skilled care, and the next family finds a reason to hope. Whatever the size, your gift becomes part of a story that outlives us all.

Where your gift lives on

  • Education for girls

    Te-Kworo Foundation is committed to providing vulnerable girls in northern Uganda with access to quality education, creating opportunities for brighter futures. Many of these girls face barriers such as extreme poverty, early marriage, social stigmas, or caring for their own babies. Our three boarding schools offer safe, supportive environments where girls can focus on their education and personal growth.

  • Maternal & child healthcare

    Te-Kworo Foundation is dedicated to providing pregnant women and their babies with access to safe, life-saving maternal healthcare in northern Uganda. Many women in the region face life-threatening risks during childbirth due to a lack of access to trained medical assistance. Our medical and maternal health clinic is a beacon of hope, ensuring every mother and child has a chance at a healthy life.

Ways to leave a gift in your Will

There is no gift too small to matter. You might choose one of the following, and your solicitor can help you decide what is right for you and your family.

  • A percentage of what remains of your estate after your loved ones have been provided for. This keeps your gift in proportion, whatever your circumstances at the time.

  • All of what is left of your estate once other gifts and expenses have been met, dedicated entirely to transforming lives in northern Uganda.

  • A specific amount of money that you nominate, giving you certainty about the exact value of the gift you would like to leave.

  • A particular asset, such as shares, property, or another item of value, gifted to the Foundation to be used where it is needed most.

A few words in your Will

If you decide to include Te-Kworo Foundation, these words may help you and your solicitor. You can adapt them to reflect the gift you would like to leave.

"I give [the whole / a __% share of the residue of my estate] / [the sum of $______] to Te-Kworo Foundation Australia (ABN 17 657 059 357) for its general purposes. I direct that the receipt of the Foundation’ s authorised officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors."

How to leave a gift in your Will

There is no gift too small to matter. You might choose one of the following, and your solicitor can help you decide what is right for you and your family.

  • Decide how you would like to provide for family and friends. A gift to Te-Kworo can then be a meaningful part of the legacy you leave behind.

  • A share of your estate, the residue, a fixed sum, or a specific asset. Any gift, of any size, makes a lasting difference.

  • Ask them to prepare or update your Will using our suggested wording and our full legal name and ABN.

  • You are never obliged to tell us. If you do, it would be our privilege to thank you and to share the difference your gift will make.

Your questions, answered

  • Do I need to tell you about my gift?

    No. Your Will is entirely your own, and you are never obliged to tell us what you have decided. If you do choose to share it with us, it would be our privilege to thank you and to keep you close to the work your gift will one day support. Whatever you decide is held in complete confidence.

  • Can I change my mind later?

    Yes, always. A gift in your Will is never binding during your lifetime. You remain in full control of your estate and can update or remove your gift at any time, for any reason, simply by speaking with your solicitor. Life changes, and your Will can change with it.

  • Is my gift too small to matter?

    Not at all. There is no gift too small to make a difference. Whatever the size, your gift becomes part of a story that outlives us all, helping the next girl through school or the next mother to a safe birth. Every gift, large or modest, is received with the same gratitude.

  • How will my gift be used?

    Your gift supports our work with girls, women, and communities in northern Uganda where it is needed most: educating girls in our three boarding schools, and providing safe maternal and child healthcare. Because a generous partner covers our Australian operating costs, gifts go directly to these programmes. If you would prefer your gift directed to a particular area, your solicitor can help you word this, and we are always happy to talk it through with you first.

  • Are gifts to the Foundation tax deductible?

    Te-Kworo Foundation Australia holds Deductible Gift Recipient status (DGR Item 1), and gifts over $2 are tax deductible in Australia. A gift in your Will is made from your estate rather than during your lifetime, so it is treated differently from a donation you make today. We would always recommend confirming how any gift will be treated with your solicitor or financial adviser.
