Make Waves. Change Lives.
Education is a lifeline—but for too many girls in Uganda, the cost of school is an impossible barrier. That’s where you come in.
By taking part in Swim for Scholarships, you’ll raise vital funds to provide scholarships for girls, ensuring they can stay in school, pursue their dreams, and create a brighter future.

Hear from a Participant
“I think about the students in Uganda — their aspirations, their smiles, their determination — and how education will completely change the course of their lives. It makes your heart sing, and the metres fly by.”
Tony first joined Swim for Scholarships three years ago, drawn to the event as a wonderful way to directly support education for girls and young women in northern Uganda — while keeping fit through the summer months.
Having followed the Te-Kworo Foundation since its beginnings over 15 years ago, Tony has long admired the organisation’s work. He knows the founder, Alice Achan, whose extraordinary story of survival and dedication continues to inspire him. He’s also familiar with the Australian leadership team and has witnessed firsthand their deep commitment to empowering women and girls through education and health.
Most of Tony’s kilometres are swum in the beautiful waters of Sydney’s North Harbour — often with his dog, Bruce, paddling close behind. For him, swimming clears the head and provides time to reflect on the purpose behind every stroke. He often thinks about the students in Uganda — their aspirations, their smiles, their determination — and how education will completely change the course of their lives.
For Tony, every lap represents a step forward for another young woman in Uganda — another chance at higher education and a brighter future. Supporting them through this swim feels deeply meaningful, and he encourages anyone to dive in and be part of this journey.
Why It Matters
For girls in Uganda, education is everything. It means safety, opportunity, and the power to change their future. But without financial support, many are forced to drop out of school.
By swimming for scholarships, you’re giving these girls the chance to keep learning, keep growing, and keep dreaming.
