Urgent Appeal: Scholarships

When Te-Kworo was first founded in 2002, our visionary founder, Alice, had to visit remote villages to convince families to send their daughters to school. At the time, many didn’t believe in the value of educating a girl. They didn’t know that girls are not only worth educating - they are essential to building stronger, more resilient communities.

Today, things have changed. Word has spread, and the local community now sees firsthand the life-changing impact of educating girls. They understand that sending their daughters to school transforms not just her future, but the future of the entire community. Each year a girl stays in school significantly reduces the risk of early marriage, teen pregnancy, sexual exploitation, and domestic abuse. With this comes dignity, belonging, self-worth, and - crucially - options.

However, we are at a critical crossroads. In January over 1000 students enrolled at our schools, 200 more than expected. We can not turn these girls away as there is no other education option forcing them into a life without any hope of breaking the cycle of poverty.

While this is a beautiful testament to the trust and value our community places in our schools, it also comes with increased costs. Educating the additional 200 students while maintaining the high standards of education and support means we need additional resources.

Where Do Your Funds Go:

  • Education

    To maintain our high standard of education, we urgently need additional teachers and learning resources. Your contribution will help us continue providing the quality education our students deserve

  • Facilities

    We urgently need to upgrade our dormitories, classrooms, water tanks and latrines for our increased student numbers. Your support can make a lasting impact on their well-being

  • Bunk Beds, Chairs & Desks

    We urgently need more furniture to accommodate the growing number of students. Your support can help provide a comfortable, safe space for these girls to rest and thrive

  • Food

    The addition of 200 more girls has led to a significant increase in food costs. Your support will help ensure every girl has access to the nourishment she needs to succeed

$750 = Full year scholarship for one student

$7,500 = Supports 10 girls for a year

$15,000 = Supports 20 girls for a year

$30,000 = Supports 40 girls for a year

$130,000 = Supports a whole class of students!
