Education, Hope, and the Fight for Every Girl

Te-Kworo Foundation’s work has always been anchored in resilience. We recognise and celebrate the courage and determination of girls whose lives are being transformed through education—including thousands in northern Uganda.

One such story is Justine’s.

Born during the years of LRA violence, she entered the world in captivity after her mother was taken as a teenager. Her early childhood unfolded in the bush, far from safety, comfort, or opportunity. Once rescued, Justine stepped into a classroom for the first time—and began rebuilding a life once threatened by conflict.

In 2025, she was elected a prefect at our school, a testament to her courage, leadership, and potential.
(Name changed for privacy.)

Justine represents the thousands of girls we walk alongside—orphans, child mothers, and those born into deep poverty—each fighting for the chance to learn.

This work traces back to a single moment when Alice, standing in a war camp, dreamt of a dead tree coming back to life. The next morning she prayed beneath a kworo tree, where women and girls soon gathered around her. That moment became the seed of Te-Kworo Foundation.

Three Campuses, One Mission: Education for Every Girl

From classes held under a tree, we now operate three boarding schools designed to meet the needs of vulnerable girls who would otherwise have no access to secondary education:

Pader Campus – A Pathway for Child Mothers

  • The first school in Uganda to welcome child mothers

  • Now home to more than 800 students (Senior 1 to Senior 6)

  • Combining academic excellence with life-skills development

Kitgum Campus – Vocational Training for the Most Vulnerable

  • Tailoring and hairdressing programs

  • Built for girls who never had the chance to begin secondary school

  • Equipping them to secure employment and independence

Nwoya Campus – Education with On-Site Childcare

  • Supports students from Senior 1 to Senior 4

  • Includes infant-care facilities for young mothers

More than 5,000 girls have already reclaimed their education through these campuses.

Each scholarship covers far more than tuition—ensuring every student has safe boarding facilities, food, supplies, healthcare, and a nurturing learning environment.
