Swim for Scholarships 2025: Our Biggest Year Yet
This was our biggest Swim for Scholarships yet
When we launched Swim for Scholarships in 2024, we dared to imagine what it might look like if a community of people decided to get behind girls' education in northern Uganda. Year by year, that community has grown. This year, it grew more than ever.
To everyone who swam, donated, or shared the campaign with someone they knew — thank you. What you gave is already making its way to the girls and families who need it most.
What we achieved together
This year's campaign funded over 65 scholarships for girls in northern Uganda, our largest scholarship campaign to date. These scholarships will support girls who, without funding, would not be able to remain in school. Many have grown up in poverty, without parents, or are raising children of their own. Staying in school means they do not have to choose between surviving today and building something better for tomorrow.
This year also set a new record for donors and participants. More people chose to give, and more people chose to swim. We are encouraged beyond words to see the story of Te-Kworo reaching new people, and people responding.
All up, our swimmers covered 680 kilometres collectively — roughly the distance from Sydney to Canberra and back again. Every lap was a small act of solidarity with girls on the other side of the world who are working hard to build a different future for themselves.
A special thank you to The Avalon Church
We want to take a moment to recognise The Avalon Church, who raised over $18,000 on their own. That is nearly half of our entire campaign total, achieved through the collective effort of one extraordinary community.
The generosity and commitment you brought to this campaign moved us deeply. The girls whose education you have helped fund will carry that forward in ways none of us can fully imagine yet. Thank you.
Schools changing lives, one lap at a time
We also want to extend a warm thank you to St Luke's Grammar School for joining Swim for Scholarships for the first time this year. The enthusiasm their students and staff brought to the campaign was wonderful to see, and their contribution made a real difference to the girls we serve in northern Uganda.
If your school would like to be part of Swim for Scholarships 2027, we would love to hear from you. Get in touch and we will share everything you need to get involved.
Keep following the story
The campaign is over, but the work is very much continuing. The girls you have supported are in school. The communities we serve are growing stronger. If you would like to follow along, we share regular updates from Uganda and a real look at what your support makes possible.
Swim again in 2027?
If you would like to be part of Swim for Scholarships again, we would be glad to have you back. Register your interest and we will be in touch as soon as registrations open.
With gratitude,
Te-Kworo Foundation
